Millions of Memories

My little Grandson sent me a parcel this week. It was so lovely to see his full name on the package: Jordan Ross Turner Ye Jie ( He had even written his last name in Chinese Scribe but alas my computer doesn't do that yet. ) The parcel was SO big I thought he must have sent over his little music centre for me to play with! But no, he knew exactly what his Mama Maree would like. Real "old style" photos and a little " new style" machine that has so many pictures of his first 6 months programmed into its memory! His besotted Grandma can sit and delight in her little boy whenever she wants! Even at work! It's so much fun. At work I put it in calendar mode so it's sort of disguised as "office equipment" and here at home I have it on Slideshow Full Screen. I can also put in my own camera disc so I can add Nick & Finnie to my very special TV!!!
How Wonderful! Thankyou so much little Jordy.
Today I especially thought of you as Celia & I enjoyed a couple of hours at a Family Day Concert at the Gardens.
Check this wee fire engine out...isn't it great. In a few more months you would just LOVE to have a ride on this. See, it's called Little Flick. I'll teach you the song one day! Your big cousins would love this already.

It was a lovely sunny blue afternoon, one of those special Dunedin days, just right . And it was nice to see so many families out & about enjoying the day.

I am reminded how lucky we are....this pix was taken exactly a week ago from my home. The sky had an amazing purple haze and the air felt thick. The Australian Fires. So many families who have lost loved ones and everything they own. And their photos of memories gone forever.

Visiting Jordy

Hi Mama - I want to show you what I can do on my Music Centre - I'm really good & as you can see a real showman! And now it's story time - hang on a mo and I'll just turn the page...your going to love this one..
Crumbs...this story's a real page turner...
Mama also watched me have some advocado followed by prunes & then I did some real good workouts on the floor ( nah - that's right - not on my baby mat - had further places to explore this time ) so did some real good push arounds and Mama was so astonished at the way my little legs were pulling me around and about that she missed the shot! Ah well - next time Mama eh.

A Special Day

Feb 6 is a Public Holiday to celebrate the Treaty of Waitangi. Historically this day has been significant in raising awareness of Treaty obligations...Now, in 2009, I think New Zealand can feel proud, that although a true partnership between Maori & the Crown has not yet been achieved, Maori values have become increasingly incorporated into our society and Treaty obligations continue to be addressed. We can at last begin to feel comfortable in claiming this as our National Day.

But Feb 6 has it's own special significance for our family. It is Dad's birthday and the Anniversary of Mum's death. It is nice to have the day off work - to take a trip out to the Cemetary.

And although we can't lay claim to "Ross" Creek I feel it is appropriate to spend some time there.

A nice quiet stroll through the bush and you climb a little way to come out onto the resevour. It's always very picturesque pretty.

It's nice to walk right around the water and remember the times when we had to keep Millie away from the ducks!

Then back down the hill to Woodhaugh.
Can't wait to take wee Jordy here!
